Annecy- a picture perfect day

We woke up this morning to crystal blue skies- not a cloud in sight. So we decided to take a drive to the Chateau Menthe de St Bernard- a chateau nearby that is said to be Walt Disney's inspiration for "Sleeping Beauty". A nice drive- not too far- and we found the chateau- which is closed on Mondays. Argh! But we took some beautiful pictures from the road and didn't consider the trip a total loss- the ride was too pretty. Then back to Annecy- walked around the old town (think Grand Lake times 30 with a medieval town complete with castle stuck on the end of it). Signed up for a boat ride around the lake (totally worth it) and did some browsing through the shops in town. Found a place that sold macaroons the size of hamburgers (bought one, of course).
We love this place. And the weather is just picture perfect today. Tomorrow, off to Provence. We're hoping the great weather sticks with us.
