Planes Trains and Automobiles

We got up this morning and prepared for the second leg of our journey- Loire Valley. This involves a ride on the TGV and a VERY long taxi ride. So we got on the train and headed out. No problem! Found the right train and everything! All was peachy until about 18 km outside of Paris, the train slows and stops. We wait. Finally, I walk a few cars up and find the conductor to get an up date. This is what I got- "Thee train, shezzz is broke. She will not go fast. We go back to Paris and get another train. " Well, OK, I'm all for not traveling on a broke train. How do we get back to Paris? "We back this train up".  Now, call me irresponsible but backing a train up along a rail line where OTHER trains are doing 200 MPH sounds a bit out there to me. But that's what we did. The man next to us- "These train broke all the time. She is Paris." I found this hilarious. Nobody got upset. Communal shrugs all around. We backed up, we got another train. And continued on our way.
BTW, when the train is NOT broke, it's freaking' fast. I mean, REALLY fast. One hour later, we were in Loire Valley 257 kilometers away.
We meet our driver. She speaks no English. This does not stop her from having a conversation with us the entire one hour cab ride to our chateau. Brian and I just grinned and shrugged. When we could, we interjected "Oui!" this seemed to work.
We arrived at our Chateau and found that our room was on the 3rd floor. With no elevator. We've done this before- it was like Déjà Vu all over again. We settled in, had dinner and crawled off to bed. Tomorrow, castes and gardens.
